Unable to Start Quest 'Keristrasza' Information about beginning this Coldarra quest in Borean Tundra. Unable to Start The Siege of Lordaeron. Unable to pick up the quest to start the Siege of Lordaeron. Paid a Subscription But My Account is Still Inactive. What to do if you cannot start a new subscription. Updated all drivers. Updated World of Warcraft. Did all Windows 10 updates and Nvidia updates. The game still will not run on a 2200 dollar laptop. Runs ESO and Rift with zero issues. When trying to launch WoW, I get a message saying “unable to start up 3D acceleration.” Have you guys been having issues with Nvidia cards?

'Windows creator update? It wants to shedule a reboot? Sure, install it now'. That's how it started. One long dot-spinning installation later, clicking play would only result in a white window and the message 'World of warcraft was unable to start up 3d acceleration'. Google says I'm not the first one to have this problem, so here's what I've tried.
  • Updated Nvidia drivers.
  • Re-updated Nvidia drivers but telling it to do a 'clean' install.
  • Reset game settings from battle.net.
  • Run DxDiag and see if Direct3D is disabled somehow, it's not, so far as I can see (but full DxDiag dump is included).

  • Tried to swap it to the intel integrated graphics.. my laptop has an integrated intel GPU and an Nvidia 525M. So if I tell wow to use the intel one, it runs as good as one would expect the integrated chip to run wow.
  • Launched another game (HotS) on the nvidia gpu, and it launches normally.

Is there something I'm missing? Any other way I can diagnose what's going on? Advice on how to accept massively suboptimal wow graphics in my life?
Here's a link to dxdiag's log. If some words look like greek to you, they are, but they're headers mostly so I assume it'll be ok.

To disable the FSO, simply follow these steps:
1. Go to the game folder for the game you're having problems with
2. Find the game's application/.exe file. Right click the file and choose 'Properties.'
3. In the Properties menu, click the 'Compatibility' tab
4. Click 'Disable Fullscreen Optimizations'
5. Click Apply
6. Repeat this for any application/.exe files for the game having problems.

Hope this helps guy with the same problem..

Direct3D is a component of Microsoft's DirectX graphics software and is one of the more commonly used graphics accelerators in PC gaming. Of course, before you can enjoy the benefits of Direct3D acceleration, you need to have that particular component enabled in DirectX. Fortunately for your gaming needs, enabling Direct3D acceleration is not an overly complicated process, and can be achieved in a matter of moments.

Step 1

Open the 'Start' menu and type 'dxdiag' into the Windows Live search box, then press 'Enter.' This will bring up the 'DirectX Diagnostics' dialog box.

Step 2

Step 3

Click the 'Enable' option next to the Direct3D entry. This will turn on Direct3D acceleration. You may need to restart your computer to make the changes effective.
