Released the 29th of September 2011, this free patch, brings two new game modes to the Witcher 2: Dark Mode, and an Arena mode; along with various tweaks and enhancements, and a tutorial. All of these will be shipped on-disc for the Xbox 360 release.

(self.witcher) submitted 4 years ago by pavlik. But the issue is you have to give it more thought than a magic/sword build. Most people are already overwhelmed by everything else.
- Has the Witcher 2 been able to Assassinate the Kings of its competitions? Plus it is also a great way to test out different spec builds if you do not have a respec mod available. Arena Mode can be played on any difficulty, either alone or with a NPC mercenary character whose surfaces can be purchased for a price. Want to know what Dark.
In Chapter 2 with Roche, you will arrive in the War Camp. At the camp, you can talk to the local Blacksmith outside the Canteen if you want to start practicing your arm wrestling skills for later. There are more arm wrestlers, but you will not need to challenge them all. You can even skip the Blacksmith if desired. Next, leave for the King's inner camp, where you will find the arm wrestling champion near a fire. Talk to him, fulfilling every topic, then ask about arm wrestling. The champ will tell you to climb the ranks by defeating others, but the option to wrestle will still be available. Select 'Let's Go' to start the mini-game. This mini-game allows you to bet 100 Orens instead of the usual 30. You can also repeat this mini-game as much as desired. The arm wrestling champion in Chapter 1 (Bart Bargee) and Chapter 2 (Adam Pangratt) can both be fought as often as desired. It is possible to earn 200 Orens approximately every 20 seconds using this method. Note: You can also save as often as desired if you think you might lose.
Early Experience bonus perkTo unlock the 10% Experience bonus perk, you must destroy 10 training dummies. To do this during the Prologue, you must have an unpatched version of the game. Note: You can delete all patches for the game by using the 'Clear hard drive cache' code for the Xbox 360. Inside one of the tents in the War Camp, outside of Geralt's, are five training dummies. Destroy all five training dummies, then leave the area, and spend some time doing other activities. Play some mini-games, and talk to the other people around the area. Then, return to the training tent, and the five training dummies should have respawned. Destroy all five training dummies again to get the perk.
If the game is patched, you can use the following method to get the 10% Experience bonus perk early in the game. In Flotsam, you can find four more training dummies. The dummies in Flotsam should keep respawning. Destroy the five training dummies in the Prologue, and the four in Flotsam. Then, leave the area, and return to Flotsam. Destroy one of the four training dummies that respawned to get the perk.

Get one of the first Warrior path skills, which is unlocked at Level 6 or 7 by spending points on the Witcher path. The Warrior skill allows you to dodge further distances. Level 1 is 100%, and level 2 is 200%. Take out Geralt's sword, and begin rolling when in a wide open area or deserted portion of a city. You will be able to travel faster than normal. If timed precisely, you can roll without pausing between rolls. Note: Having your sword out will draw the attention of the guards.
Assassin's Creed referencesDuring the 'Prologue - Barricade' mission, when you must destroy a gate by using a ballista, drop down the wall to a series of scaffolding, then reach the ground. Fight several soldiers from the rebellion group, and make your way to the guarded ballista. Kill the enemies and clear the square, then go further back from the ballista, and look to your right, beside a house. You will find a dead man dressed in a white robe with a red belt laying face down on top of a broken hay wagon (a reference to Altair Ibnu La Ahad). Look up to see a wooden ledge with a bird, which is where an assassin would usually survey the surroundings (synchronize), and perform the leap of faith. Geralt will say 'I guess they never learn.'
You can get a hidden ability named 'Assassin' that gives a damage bonus on the attack that lands on the enemy's back. This is a reference to the back stab assassination in Assassin's Creed.
Easy 'Eagle Eye' achievementSave the game. While shooting under Count Etcheverry, if you fail, reload the saved game and shoot again until you succeed to get the 'Eagle Eye' achievement.
Witcher 2 Alchemy Build
Easy 'Kayranslayer' achievementDrink a mongoose potion before you enter the arena, just after splitting from Sile. Have the Kayran trap, which is crafted in town with a component from Loredo's compound. Also, have extra vigor (points, recharge bonus). The giant Kayran has six tentacles. Since the center two cannot be attacked, stay away from the middle of the area. The Kayran also has a poison attack, which is mitigated by the mongoose potion. The poison is concentrated in the center of the area. The other four tentacles can be attacked after they become temporarily pinned to the ground. Use the Kayran trap to pin one of them. The remaining two can be done using the Yrden sign. If you could not craft the Kayran trap, use the sign to pin all three tentacles. Use the sign, get the tentacle to hit it, and a pulsating spot of color will appear on the tentacle. Attack it until the tentacle is severed. After those three three tentacles are severed, the Kayran will sweep one of the remaining tentacles across the battlefield and start a QTE (Quick Time Event). You must jump on and hold to the tentacle. After you are brought across the Kayran's body, another QTE will start that you must be completed sucessfully before you hit the column. Then, run to the left and on the ramp formed by the collapsed bridge up to the Kayran's head to kill it and get the 'Kayranslayer' achievement. Note: There are two body part collection points that can be found for loot.
Easy 'Poker!' achievementTo make this achievement easier, initiate a Dice Poker game, and move all five dice into the bottom left corner of the board. Stack all five dice into each other so they will clip into each other if you barely move the Right Analog-stick while your selection cursor is against the corner. All five dice should look like one single block. With all five dice clipping through each other, when you throw them, just barely move the Right Analog-stick. Make sure to do so outside the oval indentation, on the raised edges outside the center. If done correctly, the dice will drop and barely move. This will often result in 2-4 of the dice staying the same number. Select and throw only the non-matching dice afterward, and follow the same method to increase your chances of rolling the same number. While this method is not foolproof, it will increase your chances of getting the 'Poker!' achievement before 100 rolls. To avoid your opponent dropping out of the match, lower your bets and keep them as low as possible. Note: It may also help to tap the Left Analog-stick instead of the Right Analog-stick to increase your chances of stacking dice.

Dark Mode Exploit[edit]
A minor exploit to keep Dark Mode outfits on another difficulty level (like on Easy).
Basically, if you place your outfits and diagrams into storage, you can change the difficulty level without losing the Dark Outfits or plans used to make them (you can acquire the ingredients to make them after 'failing' the side quest). Remember that once you change difficulties, the plans for the Dark gear vanishes from the shops (unless you bought the plans and put them in storage before exiting Dark mode).
Note that this exploit will not assist you in the Madman achievement, but it will make the remainder of the game ridiculously easy.

Assassins Creed Reference[edit]
During the Prologue - Barricade mission where you have to destroy a gate by using a ballista, drop down the wall to a series of scaffold and down to the ground. You will have to fight several soldiers from the rebellion group and make way to the guarded ballista. After finishing off your enemies and cleared the square, head back further back from the ballista and look to your right beside a house and you will see a dead man dressed in a white robe with a red belt (Altair Ibnu La Ahad reference) laying face down on top of a broken hay wagon. Looking a up and there's a wooden ledge with some bird sitting around where assassin usually survey the surrounding (synchronize) and perform the leap of faith. Geralt will give a funny monologue that he commonly used in a fight that sounds “I guess they never learn', assuming that a leap from such height is impossible. You will also get a hidden ability that named 'Assassin' that give a damage bonus on the attack that lands on enemy's back, a reference to Assassin's Creed infamous back stab assassination.

Ending Criteria[edit]
Here is a summary of choices you have to make to achieve all 16 endings; basically, four major choices in the game will determine the outcome at the end.

Prologue
During the assault on La Valette Castle, kill or spare Aryan La Valette. This determines some character abilities early in the game, and whether or not Geralt encounters a topless Baroness in the torture chamber during his escape from the La Valette dungeon.
Chapter 1
At the end of the chapter, side with Vernon Roche of the Temerian Special Forces or Iorveth the Scoia'Tael leader. This determines the remaining missions and encounters for the rest of the game. Some items on one branch may appear in different spots in the other (and vice versa).
Chapter 2 - Roche
Towards the end of the chapter, allow Roche to spare or slay King Henselt. Note that for the Xbox 360, an Achievement is associated with both decisions (so you may want to save and reload the game to get more points with less work). Additionally, slaying Henselt relates to an Ability.
Chapter 2 - Iorveth
In the middle of the chapter, side with the mob or Iorveth in the case of Prince Stennis poisoning Saskia. Lynching Stennis relates to an Ability.
Chapter 3 - Roche
Towards the end of the chapter, assist Roche in rescuing Anais La Valette instead of breaking into the Nilfgaardian quarter to rescue Triss Merigold. For the Xbox 360, an Achievement is associated with both decisions; you may want to save and reload the game to get more points (and see how the story plays out with each decision). Rescuing Triss while siding with Roche results in the same achievement award for Iorveth's side, so you need not help Triss on both paths.
Chapter 3 - Iorveth
Towards the end of the chapter, assist Phillipa Eilhart instead of breaking into the Nilfgaardian quarter to rescue Triss Merigold. For the Xbox 360, an Achievement is associated with both decisions; you may want to save and reload the game to get more points (and see how the story plays out with each decision). Rescuing Triss while siding with Iorveth results in the same achievement award for Roche's side, so you need not help Triss on both paths.

Rolling for the Win[edit]
An easy way to make Geralt faster early on is to get one of the first warrior path skills (unlocked at level 6-7 by putting points into the Witcher path). The warrior skill allows you to dodge further distances (level 1 is %100 and level 2 is %200). When your in wide open areas or even in a deserted part of a city, pull out Geralt's sword and start rolling. This will get you wherever you want to go much faster, because if you time it right you can roll without pausing in between rolls.
Note: If you try this near guards they may start to pursue you, just put your sword away as soon as they try and they will leave you alone.
